Min Bernardo, the mother of prominent Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo, became emotional while reflecting on the moment they discovered the actress was under consideration for a Madame Tussauds wax figure, ABS-CBN News reported.

The revelation happened during the official unveiling of the actress's wax figure. Speaking to reporters, Min explained that a close friend initially broke the news about the world-famous museum looking into Kathryn as a potential inductee.

Min detailed the timeline of events, noting that the initial tip came from a dedicated supporter who grew to become a close confidant, though the family remained skeptical until a bittersweet moment coincided with the official confirmation.

“It's a long story. In 2024, a big fan that became my best friend told me that Kathryn nga was considered as one of pinamimilian. Then in 2025, di namin napag-uusapan kasi naisip ko baka hindi totoo. Until yung friend ko namatay siya. ‘Yung dumating na ‘yung time na naka-receive ako ng call na si Kathryn nga yung napili, dumaan ako sa sa Loyola sa wake niya. Doon ko nalaman, siguro isa siya sa angels sa taas and sinabi na si Kathryn na,” Min said.

The mother confessed that viewing the completed likeness for the first time felt deeply overwhelming. Min expressed her absolute astonishment at the precise craftsmanship, noting that the figure captured her daughter's exact likeness.

“Kamukhang kamukha niya talaga. Thank you to Madame Tussauds Hong Kong for considering my daughter. Napakaswerte. It's another milestone for her, to her career and also sa aming family niya and also sa mga fans,” she added.

Min concluded by dedicating the achievement to their supporters and the global Filipino community, celebrating the addition of another local talent to the international exhibit.

“Sa mga fans, and kapwa Filipino, isa na namang Filipino ang makikita nila sa Hong Kong.”

The lifelike replica was inspired by the actress’ look when she received the Outstanding Asian Star Award at the Seoul International Drama Awards in 2023. Kathryn now joins Filipino personalities with wax figures at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong, including Pia Wurtzbach, Catriona Gray, Manny Pacquiao, and Anne Curtis. Before heading to its permanent home in Hong Kong, the figure was showcased locally, drawing attention on social media as photos and videos from the unveiling circulated online.
