James Reid admitted that he felt significant pressure working alongside Kathryn Bernardo in the upcoming Kapamilya series Someone, Someday, saying he was “very nervous” to be paired with one of the country's biggest stars.

According to a report by ABS-CBN News, James made the remarks after emerging as one of the biggest winners at the 17th Star Awards for Music held at Teatrino in San Juan. The actor-singer took home the coveted Album of the Year award for his album called jgh and expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting that music remains deeply personal to him because he pours his heart and soul into every project.
Following the awards ceremony, James spoke with members of the media about Someone, Someday, his highly anticipated television comeback opposite Kathryn.
When asked about working with the actress, James had nothing but praise for her professionalism and the atmosphere she creates on set. He described Kathryn as someone who remains grounded despite her status in the industry and said her hands-on approach helps make the production feel like a family environment.

“She’s super grounded. Very hands-on with the project. She really makes the set feel like a family. I learn a lot from working with her, as I’ve mentioned.”
James then acknowledged that sharing the screen with a major A-list actress naturally comes with heightened expectations. He candidly admitted that he initially felt nervous about the collaboration because of the caliber of the people involved in the project.
“To be honest, I was very nervous. There’s a lot of pressure working with such big names in the industry.”
Despite those nerves, James said the experience ultimately became a valuable learning opportunity for him and added that he is eager for audiences to finally see the series.
“But I actually learned a lot while working with Kathryn. I’m very excited to watch this project.”
Someone, Someday also marks an important milestone in James' career as it serves as his return to television acting. His last film appearance was in Miss Granny in 2018, while his most recent television series was Till I Met You, where he starred opposite Nadine Lustre.
Reflecting on his comeback, James said returning to a TV set felt surprisingly natural, as though he had never been away.
“I felt as if I had never left, like I was back home. Malapit nang matapos, so it’s going to be out maybe in July. I can’t wait.”
He also shared his excitement over the project's collaboration with Maja Salvador, emphasizing that the series allows him to explore something new as an actor.
“I’m super excited about this project, especially since it’s also a collaboration with Maja Salvador. It’s definitely something I’ve never done before, so I’m very excited,” James said.
Someone, Someday, which marks the first on-screen pairing of Kathryn and James, premieres on July 27 on AllTV2, A2Z, TV5, Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, iWant, with advance episodes available on Netflix.
