The actress and public servant shared the update during an interview with veteran entertainment columnists Salve Asis and Dondon Sermino at the first death anniversary of the late showbiz columnist Lolit Solis.
Speaking about the challenges their family continues to face, Mercado admitted that she chooses to focus on one day at a time instead of worrying about the future.
“Taking things one day at a time. Basta kapit lang sa Panginoon,” Mercado said.

She also revealed that although she would like to spend more time with her husband, work responsibilities prevent her from visiting him every day. Instead, she makes it a point to see him several times each week.
“Three times a week.”
“Hindi kayang [bumisita] every day [kasi] may trabaho,” she explained.
Mercado also shared that she intentionally keeps their conversations light whenever they meet, believing that bringing additional emotional burdens into the visitation would not help either of them.
“Kapag nandoon, kailangang pleasant lang ‘yung mga pinag-uusapan.”
“‘Yung bigat ng mundo, huwag mong dadalhin doon,” she added.
Asked about Revilla's current condition inside the detention facility, Mercado said he continues to stay hopeful while patiently waiting for what comes next.
“Okay naman.”
“He’s taking things one day at a time.”
“Waiting.”
Aside from maintaining a positive mindset, Mercado said her husband continues to prioritize his physical health by following a regular exercise routine.
“Nag-e-exercise siya.”
“Alam mo naman ‘yun, eh.”
“Hindi mawawala ang exercise sa buhay niya.”
“That keeps him fit,” she said.
Revilla remains under detention at the New Quezon City Jail Male Dormitory after surrendering to authorities. His case involves allegations of misappropriation of public funds, and he continues to remain in custody as the offense is not eligible for bail.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding their situation, Mercado said she remains steadfast in her faith and continues to draw strength from prayer while supporting her husband throughout the legal process.
