According to Mariel, her presence at the event was a rare exception to their usual domestic boundaries regarding the senator's political career.
“Robin really, really wanted to be there but couldn’t make it. He rarely asks me to represent him because he usually doesn’t involve me when it comes to politics. But this was a very special case, so he asked me to go on his behalf,” says the television host.
In addition to her photos, Mariel uploaded the exact speech she had prepared to deliver in front of the crowd, which was ultimately canceled after the event's permits were suddenly revoked by authorities.
“Una po sa lahat, nandito po ako ngayon para makiisa sa inyong lahat…Nandito rin po ako para iparating din ang mensahe ng aking asawa dahil hindi rin po niya kayang manahimik,” says the written address.
The prepared speech heavily emphasized a united front with the supporters of Marcoleta, who has been aggressively campaigning against alleged government anomalies.
“Nandito po ako para iparamdam sa lahat ng nagmamahal at nagmamalasakit kay Senator Rodante Marcoleta na hindi kayo nag-iisa. Kasama niyo ako. We are one!” says Mariel.

She urged lawmakers to carefully balance the welfare of children with the concerns of parents when deliberating on the controversial measure.
Meanwhile, Senator Robinhood Padilla strongly criticized the prime suspect in the tragic Tacloban school shooting after details about the individual's alleged career aspiration surfaced during a Senate investigation. Robin condemned what he described as manipulative behavior displayed on social media and claimed it reflected a criminal mindset. The senator also urged the Senate justice committee to act swiftly on the matter, saying immediate action is needed to help prevent similar incidents.
