Expressing her thoughts publicly, BB said she wanted to personally appeal to Pangilinan as discussions surrounding the controversial proposal continue to divide lawmakers.
"I'm actually parang nanawagan ako kay Sen. Kiko."
She then recalled that she once actively supported Pangilinan during his campaign because of the trust she had in Sharon Cuneta.

"Kasi alam nyo, ipinagkampanya ko po si Sen. Kiko noon."
BB also directly addressed Sharon, reminding her of the reason behind her previous support.
"At pinapaalala ko ito kay Sharon."
"At sinabi ko ito, ipinakampanya ko si Sen. Kiko noon dahil naniniwala ako kay Sharon."
However, she admitted that her perspective has changed over the years and suggested that she no longer shares the same confidence in Pangilinan's position.
"Pero Sharon ngayon nanawagan ako sa iyo parang hindi na yata ako naniniwala. Parang binabawi ko na po yun."
As she explained her stand, BB reflected on how she and her brother, Senator Robin Padilla, were raised by their parents. According to her, discipline, respect for authority, and faith in God were deeply instilled in them while growing up.
"Unang-una kami po pinalaki ng mga magulang namin sa disiplina. My dad and my mom didn't spare the rod para po disiplinahin kaming lahat. At lumaki po kami may takot sa Diyos, may takot sa magulang, may takot sa authorities, may takot sa mga teachers, principal, sa lahat po."
BB clarified that she generally avoids political discussions, but she believes the current issue extends beyond politics and directly affects Filipino families.
"Hindi po ako laging magsasalita kasi umiiwas po ako sa politika but this time this is not political. Kaya kayo gumagawa ng batas para protectahan hindi lang ang mga bata kundi ang mga magulang din."
She also appealed to lawmakers to consider the reasoning behind the proposal instead of focusing only on opposing views. According to BB, her brother's proposal aims to address crimes involving minors and encourage accountability.
"Sana naman eh hindi lang puro yung side ninyo, ang pakinggan ninyo, tignan din nyo yung side why we are pushing for this, why my brother (Sen Robin Padilla) is pushing for this. Hindi po ito politika, hindi po ito para mag-grandstand but it's really a valid and meron pong cost eh."
Concluding her statement, BB said understanding the issue should not require advanced expertise, insisting that it ultimately comes down to practical judgment.
"Sana maintindihan lang po yun ng mga senador natin. Nakapag-aaral naman tayong lahat. It's simple logic. It's just common sense."
BB Gandanghari is a Filipino-American actress, model, and director who initially built a successful career in the 1990s as Rustom Padilla, a leading matinee idol from the prominent Padilla entertainment family. Following her public gender transition in 2009, she transitioned away from Philippine cinema to build a new life in the United States, recently graduating summa cum laude with an Entertainment Business degree in July 2025 and reconciling with her younger brother, senator Robin Padilla.
In another report, BB Gandanghari voiced her support for the proposal to reduce the minimum age of criminal responsibility from 15 to 10 years old. She stood by Sen. Robin Padilla's measure, explaining that its purpose is to discourage minors from engaging in criminal acts instead of simply imposing punishment. BB also likened the proposal to the Ten Commandments, emphasizing that laws and rules are meant to guide and protect people rather than condemn them.
Meanwhile, Sen. Robinhood Padilla is calling for sweeping changes to the law by proposing that the minimum age of criminal liability be lowered to 10 years old. His appeal came after the campus shooting in Tacloban City on June 22, 2026, prompting him to seek an emergency special legislative session to tackle the issue and help prevent similar incidents in the future. The proposal has sparked widespread discussion online, with many debating whether rehabilitation or stricter accountability is the better approach for young offenders.
