In a Facebook post dated June 14, Gaza attempted to clarify what he described as the difference between Baldwin's previous domestic violence issues and the recent tragedy that claimed the lives of Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.
According to Gaza, the allegations raised by Efi Baldwin stemmed from a history of physical and verbal abuse within the family. He claimed that Efi had previously tried to prevent Baldwin from obtaining employment in the Philippines by informing school officials about the incidents.
Gaza argued that the coach should be held accountable for the deaths connected to the team-building activity, but stressed that the incident should not be interpreted as intentional.

"He is 100% accountable and legally liable sa buhay nung dalawa at dapat siyang managot dito," Gaza wrote.
He also said:
"Hindi niya ito pinatay salungat sa mensahe na nais iparating ng kanyang ex-wife."
Describing the incident as an accident, Gaza insisted that Baldwin's domestic violence history had no direct connection to what happened during the team-building activity.
"Aksidente yung nangyari sa team building and his domestic violence history has nothing to do with it," he said.
Gaza also accused Baldwin's estranged wife of using the controversy to further attack her former husband.
"Gusto lang magbida-bida ni Madam na habang down na down yung ex-husband niya sa nangyari, gusto niya itong dikdikin at durugin pa ng husto para makabawi sa lahat ng pagdurusa na dinanas niya noon," Gaza wrote.
Despite his criticism, Gaza emphasized that he was not dismissing the suffering experienced by Baldwin's estranged wife during their marriage.
"Hindi po natin ini-invalidate yung matinding pinagdaanan ni Madam habang kasal siya kay coach. That is wrong. Hindi 'yon tama. Maling-mali," he wrote.
He added that his intention was to provide what he called the "bigger picture" for the public.
Meanwhile, Efi Baldwin released a video on June 13 in which she claimed she had long warned Ateneo that children were not safe around the coach. She alleged that the school failed to act and instead engaged in what she described as efforts to silence her.
Efi also told the families of the victims that the tragedy was "predictable" and "preventable."
Her daughter, Giota, echoed the concerns and criticized team manager Epok Quimpo, accusing him of disregarding the family's warnings despite the deaths that have shaken the Ateneo community.
The contrasting narratives have fueled heated discussions online, with many debating accountability, past allegations, and the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
In another report, Efi Baldwin, the estranged wife of Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin, released a video on Saturday, June 13, claiming that she had long warned the school that children were not safe around the coach. In her statement, she alleged that Ateneo had a responsibility to remove Baldwin from campus but instead launched what she described as a campaign of intimidation and silence against her. Efi also addressed the families of Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili, saying that the tragedy during the Aurora team-building activity was not only predictable but also preventable.
Meanwhile, Ateneo Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin and team manager Epok Quimpo have officially resigned from their respective positions. Ateneo de Manila University President Fr. Roberto Yap confirmed that the school accepted their resignations on Monday, June 15, 2026. Their departure comes amid an ongoing government investigation into the tragic drowning deaths of two student-athletes. Baldwin's resignation took effect immediately as the Ateneo community continues to seek accountability and closure over the incident.
