Three people died while two others were injured after a closed van was involved in a tragic accident along C6 Road in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal.

Based on a report by Unang Balita, the vehicle veered onto the roadside before crashing near the edge of the road. CCTV footage from a nearby junk shop showed the van moving at a high speed moments before the incident.

According to police, five people were affected by the accident. Three of them died, while two others were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

A responder recalled what they found upon arriving at the scene.

“Pagdating ng ambo namin ay nakita nila na may nakahandusay na dalawang lalaki sa tabi ng C6. Tapos sa ilalim ng van, dalawang lalaking nakahandusay din doon,” he said.

Authorities said several of the victims were near the roadside when the accident happened. Another individual reportedly managed to avoid more serious injuries after noticing the approaching vehicle.

The incident also caused damage to a house and two nearby stores.

Meanwhile, a relative of one of the victims expressed grief over the loss of a loved one. According to the family member, the victim was simply sitting in the area when the accident occurred.

“Nung narinig ko na yung kumalampag, lumabas agad ako. Kasi yung pamangkin ko alam ko dito nakaupo. Tinakbo ko. Pagsilip ko ng ganyan wala na,” the relative shared.
“Hindi talaga katanggap-tanggap yun kasi bata pa 'yun. At saka yun yung inaasahan ng nanay niya na tumutulong dun sa mga kapatid niya sa probinsya,” the relative added.

The Taytay Police investigation found that the closed van came from Quezon City and was supposed to deliver products to a grocery store in Barangay Sta. Ana.

The driver allegedly admitted that he fell asleep while driving, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

“Base ho sa kanya nakaidlip siya kaya nawalan ng kontrol. Sumagasa siya doon sa gilid ng kalsada sa may gutter,” an authority said.

The driver's helper was unharmed. Meanwhile, the 41-year-old driver was arrested and is currently under police custody. He is set to face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in multiple h*micides and damage to property.

In other news, a tragic altercation in Bocaue resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman after she was reportedly attacked by her younger half-brother. Investigators uncovered forensic evidence and bloodstains within the residence that the suspect occupied with the deceased. Local police are currently conducting a deeper inquiry to determine the specific reasons behind this violent act.
