“Pero sa kabila ng lahat, pinipili pa rin nating mahalin ang Pilipinas,” she said.

According to Gray, loving the country does not mean ignoring its flaws but believing that Filipinos are capable of becoming better and bringing positive change.

“Hindi dahil wala siyang pagkukulang, kundi dahil naniniwala tayong kaya pa nating maging mas mabuti bilang bansa,” she added.

The former Miss Universe also shared her wish that freedom would not only be celebrated every June 12 but genuinely felt by every Filipino in everyday life.

“Sana dumating ang panahon na ang kalayaan ay hindi lang ipinagdiriwang tuwing June 12, kundi nararamdaman ng bawat Pilipino – malaya sa gutom, takot, at kawalang hustisya."

She ended her message with a hopeful note.

“Hanggang doon, tuloy lang. Tuloy ang pag-asa. Maligayang Araw ng Kalayaan, Pilipinas.”

Her post quickly drew reactions from netizens who expressed support for her sentiments and shared similar hopes for the country.
