Wowie De Guzman, nagdadalamhati sa pagkamatay ng kagrupo sa UMD na si Norman Santos

- In a Facebook post, Wowie shared how much he loves Norman as a brother and as a groupmate at UMD
- He also pointed out that he wouldn't be where he was today if not because of Santos, who succumbed from his long battle against kidney failure
- It can be recalled that Norman Santos, one of the original members of the famous 90s dance group, the Universal Motion Dancers, died at the young age of 52

It's also worth noting that another UMD member, Gerard Fainsan, also died at a very young age due to an asthma attack. He was 23 at the time of his death.
On Wowie's Facebook post, he wrote:
"UTOL....mahal na mahal ka namin.Hindi man naging maayos ang pagsasama ng grupo sa huli..at the end of the day magkakapatid tayo.Wala akong ibang hangad kundi kabutihan nating lahat..pasensya ka na sa mga pagkukulang ko sayo Man..mahal na mahal ka namin...hindi ko mararating ang kinalalagyan ko ngayon kung hindi dahil sayo...we love you Norman Santos UMD for Life...kitakits tayo nila Gerald sa finals ng buhay ko."

While, Norman's long-time partner, Chato Maria, announced the sad news on Facebook:
"It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Norman Santos on February 3, 2025, after a prolonged fight against kidney failure, necessitating dialysis for over 12 years. TENTATIVE Viewing will take place from February 12 to 16 @St Peter Memorial Chapel in Tabacuhan, Olongapo City (Del Rosario St)."
The 'Universal Motion Dancers' also known as UMD was a popular dance group in the Philippines during the 1990s. They became famous for their energetic dance moves and were often seen performing on TV variety shows. UMD was known for hit dance crazes like "Always" and became a big part of Filipino pop culture. Many of their members later pursued careers in entertainment, while others moved on to different fields. Even today, UMD is remembered as one of the most iconic dance groups in the country.
The group also extended their sorrow after learning the news:
"Isang kapatid kasamahan namin sa grupo ang pumanaw na po si tol Norman Santos, Mahal ka namin tol at ma mimiss ka namin tol sobrang nalulungkot kami sa pangyayari nabawasan na naman po kaming isang Legendary na kapatid..pakikiramay sa pamilya PAALAM SAYO TOL NORMAN UMD FOR LIFE."
Wowie de Guzman is an actor and was one of the original members of the 90s dance group, Universal Motion Dancers. He rose to fame and landed acting jobs. Wowie was also one of Judy Ann Santos' leading men. Their love team became the number-one screen tandem during the mid to late 1990s. they both starred in movies like Sana Naman, Kung Alam Mo Lang, Wow Multo, Mara Clara: The Movie, Esperanza: The Movie, Paano Ang Puso Ko?, Muling Ibalik ang Tamis ng Pag-ibig, Kasal-Kasalan, Sakal-Sakalan, Dito Sa Puso Ko and many more. They also starred in hit TV series like Esperanza and Mara Clara.
In a previous report by KAMI, Norman Santos, one of the original members of the famed 90s dance group, Universal Motion Dancers, has died at the age of 52. The sad news was confirmed by his partner, Chato Maria, in a recent post on social media. The late UMD member’s partner also revealed in her post the cause of his death. The group’s dance moves propelled them to fame during the 90s and they also did some movies during that time.
