Karen Davila and her son Lucas had an unexpected reunion with Maria Ressa in London, where they also celebrated the journalist’s 63rd birthday.

The Kapamilya broadcaster shared photos from their get-together and described the encounter as a serendipitous moment. Karen expressed her happiness over being able to spend time with Ressa on her special day.
"SERENDIPITY. Happy 63rd dearest Maria! @maria_ressa 🥂 What a wonderful surprise catch-up celebration in London for a woman whose both courage and joy is positively infectious!!" she said.
Karen also expressed her gratitude for being able to share the occasion with her son.

Ressa, a Nobel Peace Prize-winning journalist, was not the only highlight of Karen’s London trip. The broadcaster also documented moments with Lucas as he begins adjusting to a new environment and taking on greater independence.
Among the activities they shared was a visit to an exhibition by renowned artist Anish Kapoor. Karen posted photos from their time at the exhibition, giving followers a glimpse of their trip beyond the birthday celebration.
As Lucas prepares for a new chapter as a university student, Karen also took the opportunity to share a heartfelt message for her son. Her words centered on independence, resilience, courage and staying grounded while navigating a new environment.
"As you walk into your new world, make your own choices, find your own people, stumble and get back up… may you always remain firm and grounded on the man you are meant to be," she stated.
She followed the message with a reminder that Lucas would continue to have the support of his family despite the changes ahead.
