“We've noted concerns regarding the video tribute featuring Ms. Eugene Domingo at the recent Gabi ng Parangal. This was intended as a tribute to luminaries both living and passed, and who have contributed to the MMFF over its 50-year history - not an In Memoriam segment,” the MMFF statement read.
“The tribute included MMFF icons like: Joseph Estrada, Christopher De Leon, Hilda Koronel, Ruel Vernal, Amy Austria, Vilma Santos, Charo Santos, Nora Aunor, Eugene Domingo,” it also stated.

Eugene Domingo is a Pinay actress, comedienne and host. She has been referred to by showbiz media as the “Comedy Star for All Seasons.” Known as the sidekick of Ai-Ai delas Alas in the Tanging Ina movie series, she also took on the lead role in Kimmy Dora in 2009.
It can also be recalled that during the 50th MMFF Gabi ng Parangal, Eugene Domingo took to social media to flaunt her look for the night. She posted on Instagram a set of photos of her wearing a Filipiniana. In the caption, the veteran comedienne congratulated those who received awards, including Vice Ganda and Judy Ann Santos. She also invited everyone to watch “And the Breadwinner Is…” and “Espantaho.”
Meanwhile, another MMFF special award recipient, Vice Ganda, expressed surprise to receive the "Jury Citation Award" from MMFF. The comedian clearly did not know what the award was and had no qualms to ask what it was about. She said that she really does not know what it was for, which led the presenters to read the description of the award. Vice cordially thanked everyone for the award, and did not fail to acknowledge the role of ABS-CBN in giving her projects.
