Gretchen Ho, napa-reunion ng wala sa oras kasama mga dating kalaro dahil sa Rivermaya: “Nostalgic”

- Gretchen Ho, in a recent post on social media, admitted that she and some of her former teammates had an impromptu reunion because of the Rivermaya reunion concert

- It can be recalled that Gretchen used to be a varsity player of the Ateneo Women’s Volleyball Team from 2008 to 2013

- She was a member of the so-called “fab five” of the Lady Eagles who were known to have played a major role in bringing Ateneo to its first back-to-back UAAP Women’s Volleyball finals

- In the photo that Gretchen shared on socmed, one can see her with four of her former Lady Eagles teammates

Gretchen Ho, in a recent post on Instagram, admitted she and some of her former teammates went on an impromptu reunion because of the Rivermaya reunion concert.

It can be recalled that the lovely newscaster and presenter used to be a varsity player at the Ateneo de Manila University.

She was a member of the Ateneo Women’s Volleyball Team called “Lady Eagles” from 2008 to 2013 and is among the so-called “fab five,” or those who played a major role in giving Ateneo its first back-to-back UAAP Women’s Volleyball finals.

In her post, she jokingly said that because of the Rivermaya The Reunion concert, they were also forced to do an impromptu reunion.

“#RivermayaTheReunion na kahit kaming Ateneo Women’s Volleyball Team, napa-reunion!” Gretchen said.

She then describe her experience as nostalgic as all the songs performed by Rivermaya that night represented different puzzle pieces in Gretchen’s and her friends’ own lives.

“Definitely a nostalgic experience going through all the songs that represent various puzzle pieces in our lives. Kisapmata, Elesi, Awit Ng Kabataan, Ulan, 214. Songs that carried us through our childhood days,” the newscaster and presenter said.

Gretchen also commended Bamboo Mañalac, Rico Blanco, Nathan Azarcon, and Mark Escueta for putting a great show for everyone despite the tech challenges.

“And these men put on a show for us, even through all the technical challenges,” the former Ateneo volleyball star said.
“Night was very special. Not just for the fans who literally sound like broken records playing their songs on KTV over and over again, but more especially for the four who had rediscovered each other again after all these years,” she added.

Gretchen then thanked the 90’s band and suggested they do one more round.

“Maraming salamat, Rivermaya! One more round?!! ” Gretchen wrote.

Gretchen Ho is a television host and former volleyball player in the Philippines. She played volleyball for the Ateneo Lady Eagles from 2008 to 2013. Her popularity rose when she became a co-host on Umagang Kay Ganda, TV Patrol, and The Score.

Last month, Gretchen went viral after commenting on Fil-American comedian Jo Koy. She was disappointed over Jo Koy’s performance and his explanation for his ”unfunny” jokes at the Golden Globes 2024. After seeing her tweet, TV host Kiko Rustia criticized Gretchen’s “wasted opportunity” comment on Jo Koy. Kiko and Gretchen then had a civil conversation on Twitter about the Jo Koy controversy.

It can be recalled that prior to Gretchen's discussion with Kiko, the former aired her opinion about Jo Koy. The Fil-Am comedian was criticized for his hosting performance at the 2024 Golden Globes. Jo Koy explained that his performance was due to getting the gig just 10 days before the event.He also blamed his writers for the unfunny jokes he delivered. Filipino host Gretchen Ho then gave her take on the controversy.
