During her appearance on Bianca Gonzalez's "Paano Ba 'To" podcast, the beauty queen and host questioned the notion that people can overcome poverty simply by working harder. She pointed out that farmers, fishermen, construction workers, and other laborers already work tirelessly to earn a living.

Joy expressed her annoyance at people who suggest that hard work alone is the key to success, particularly when many Filipinos continue to struggle despite their efforts.

Joy also criticized a government official's previous suggestion that a P500 budget would be enough for a Noche Buena meal. She argued that Filipinos deserve to celebrate Christmas with an abundant meal rather than being expected to settle for less.

"'Yung P500 na Noche Buena? Bakla, ikaw kaya ang maghanda niyan. Ikaw ang kumain niyang P500. At saka kahit sabihin mong kasya, deserve ba 'yan ng mga Pinoy for a Noche Buena? Eh Noche Buena is a feast, may feast ba na isang putahe?"

Beyond the proposed holiday budget, Joy expressed disappointment over what she described as the disconnect between some government officials and the everyday struggles of ordinary citizens. She stressed that financial assistance alone cannot address the country's persistent poverty and called for meaningful improvements in public policies and services.

While acknowledging that government assistance can be helpful, Joy emphasized that it should come alongside job opportunities and long-term investments in the country. She specifically highlighted the need for better infrastructure and education to improve the lives of Filipinos.

Joy further underscored the far-reaching consequences of corruption, explaining that its impact extends beyond the misuse of public funds. According to her, corruption also deprives citizens of their time, their quality of life, and the opportunities they should have to live better lives.

"Kinukuha niyo talaga lahat...

She concluded her statement by pointing out that corruption also robs Filipinos of the future they deserve.

"So lahat kinuha niyo, pati future nila."
