Herlene and Kevin tackled the matter when they appeared on GTV's Chika Cart on Monday, October 26. During the show's “Chika o Add to Cart” segment, the two were given the option to answer questions drawn from a box or pass on them.
When Kevin read the question about Herlene supposedly opposing his involvement in a major role with a kissing scene, the actress immediately clarified that she had never prohibited him from accepting professional opportunities.

Herlene explained that she was unavailable when the project was offered, so she suggested that Kevin proceed without her. However, he eventually decided against joining the production.
“Thank you kasi binibigyan mo ako ng pera.
The actress admitted that she appreciated Kevin's choice because it spared her from potentially feeling jealous or worrying about situations that could affect their relationship.
She also jokingly mentioned that Kevin preferred to distance himself from what they considered potential temptations that could lead to misunderstandings between them.
Herlene further rejected the impression that she and Kevin needed to be hired together whenever they received show business offers. According to her, both of them are capable of pursuing individual projects without depending on the other's participation.
Mapipilit ba namin kung gano'n 'yung sitwasyon?” she said.
She stressed that Kevin was old enough to make his own professional decisions and should not be portrayed as someone whose career choices were controlled by his girlfriend.
“Huwag niyo sinasabing ako 'yung pumipigil. Desisyon niya 'yan, matanda na, 33 years old na 'yan, pipigilan mo pa ba 'yan.”
Kevin also provided his side, revealing that his decision was largely influenced by his plans to return to basketball after their teleserye Binibining Marikit concluded.
“By the time Binibining Marikit ended; it was June, we took a little vacation, in July I got an offer to play in China…and then I decided, I have a phone call with a couple of friends, with Herlene as well, I was like, I just prefer to play basketball over spending six or seven months filming another television series,” Kevin shared.
He added that he wanted to pursue opportunities in sports, particularly with his brothers in Thailand, who operate a basketball academy.
“We spoke about it too and I was like, 'I wanna go the basketball route.' Me and my brothers in Thailand have a basketball academy, so I decided to go back to Thailand and also build a basketball academy as well,” he added.
Toward the end of the segment, Herlene was asked whether she would be comfortable if Kevin received another offer involving a different leading lady.
The actress gave a straightforward response:
