Nyoy explained that he was still working on his own album when he decided to give the song to Nina instead.

“But also, nu’ng panahon na ‘yun, I was actually writing this for myself. Pero ako, nagbubuo pa lang ako ng album. And then, siya, patapos na 'yung album niya. And then, she needed like two more songs. So I wrote one song for her. This one was supposed to be mine. Kaya lang, nagde-deadline na.”

Rather than writing another song for Nina, Nyoy decided to include "Someday" in her album. He later acknowledged how Nina helped make the song widely known.

“So, kaysa bumuo pa ako ng isang awitin, sinama ko na lang itong ‘Someday.’ And then, eventually, she made it very famous.”

Despite the song's personal beginnings, Nyoy expressed gratitude for its success and revealed that it eventually reached an international audience. He also shared that several international companies had approached him for permission to create their own versions of the song.

“I'm actually very grateful to this song kasi ito 'yung awitin ko na umabot na ng international. Everyone wants a version. Koreans have been reaching out to me.”

Nyoy further explained that requests to create versions of songs were not as formal in the Philippines in the past. He said that international groups are now reaching out properly to ask for permission to adapt "Someday."

“Kasi before, hindi pa ito masyadong uso sa atin, 'yung mga permission, permission to do versions. So ngayon, parang everyone's being very formal about it. And then, at ‘yun, sabi nila, baka we can do a version.”

Nyoy and Nina ended their relationship in 2007. "Someday" went on to become one of Nina's well-known songs.

Nina, or Marifil Niña Girado-Enriquez in real life, is a well-known Filipino singer known as the “Asia’s Diamond Soul Siren.” She rose to fame through her emotional songs and powerful voice. Some of her hit songs include “Love Moves in Mysterious Ways,” “Someday,” and “Jealous.”

In the same interview, Nyoy opened up about his past relationship with former girlfriend Nina years after their highly publicized breakup. He said that both of them have already moved on and are now married. Nyoy added that he personally has no issues with Nina and sees no reason for them to reach out to each other at this point. He also shared that he is happy with his family and the life he has built.
