Golden spoke about the issue during her guest appearance on "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Wednesday, July 15, where she looked back on the period when she stepped away from the spotlight after gaining recognition as the inaugural winner of the singing competition.
During the interview, host Boy Abunda asked Golden why she decided to return to Cebu in 2021. The singer explained that continuing her education, along with her family's decision during the pandemic, became her priority at the time.
"Nag-aral po ako but at the same time, talagang desisyon po ng parents ko kasi pandemic po 'yon."

Boy then brought up rumors that circulated after her departure from showbiz, including claims that she had allegedly been removed rather than choosing to leave on her own.
Golden firmly denied those speculations, stressing that both she and her family had made the decision together and that pursuing her studies was an important factor behind her move.
"Ay, hindi po 'yon totoo. During that time po, 'yung mga naririnig ko po na gano'n hindi po 'yon totoo kasi desisyon talaga ng family ko, at the same time, desisyon ko rin po talagang mag-aral."
The conversation also touched on another rumor that linked her return to Cebu to her former non-showbiz boyfriend. Boy asked whether there was any truth to claims that she went back because of him or because he did not want her to continue her career.
Golden dismissed the speculation, explaining that their family home has always been in Cebu and that living there simply made them feel more comfortable. She also clarified that her former boyfriend had no role in her decision.
"Hindi naman po sa gano'n... Doon po kasi 'yung bahay talaga namin sa Cebu, so mas comfortable po kami do'n, pero hindi po talaga desisyon ng ex-boyfriend ko."
With her clarification, Golden put to rest the rumors that had surrounded her absence from the entertainment industry, reiterating that her move back to Cebu was driven by her family's decision during the pandemic and her desire to continue her education, rather than by the speculations that had circulated over the years.
