While many people think that being declared "cancer-free" means the struggle is completely over, Kaye revealed that the psychological toll of survivorship is an ongoing battle for her, especially as a mother.
"Pag dineclare na na you're a survivor, parang tapos na, natanggal na, the journey doesn't end there. Actually, mas ngayon ko na-feel na parang mas takot ako ngayon," Kaye admitted.

Because dormant cancer cells can still hide in the body, doctors do not consider patients to be completely free of the disease. For Kaye, this medically means her survivorship is a state of the cells being "dormant lang."
To monitor her health, she has to undergo medical scans every few months, a routine that brings its own deep sense of anxiety and dread.. The physical and emotional toll was heavy, but giving up was never considered.
"Not an option, because again, I want to see my children grow," she explained warmly.
During her treatment, simple moments like watching her sons' school programs would often trigger overwhelming emotions. Kaye recalled catching herself holding back tears on several occasions.
"Ito na yung last time na makikita ko sila mag-perform," she remembered thinking, before immediately forcing the dark thoughts away. "Binubura ko sa utak ko. Hindi. Kaya lalaban ako," she declared.
To cope with the heavy weight of her diagnosis, Kaye sought refuge in her faith. She developed a personal and raw way of communicating with the Lord, often locking herself away just to speak directly to Him.
"I pray in the restroom because I pray out loud. I talk to Him. Like a conversation," she shared. "I cry every time I pray."
Her daily conversations with God were simple, honest, and straight from the heart. "Please, I'm very happy with my life right now. I'm very content. Please don't take me away. I want to see my kids grow," she recalled.
Now using her journey to inspire others who might be facing their own silent battles, Kaye leaves a beautiful piece of advice centered on surrender and faith. She believes that true peace comes from trusting the divine.
"Just trust the Lord, don't question," she advised. "Kung ano man ang plano niya, just trust Him. Wala naman siyang ibibigay na hindi natin kaya."
