Former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Rian Bacalla recently took to Facebook to address the negative comments and criticisms directed at her and the other trans women candidates of the Queen of Cebu City 2024 pageant. Rian expressed her disappointment over the mockery they faced, highlighting the courage and confidence it took for them to participate and pose for the photos.

She emphasized that, despite knowing they are not perfect, the candidates chose to face the possibility of online ridicule openly, unlike their critics who often use anonymous profiles. Rian also reinforced the message that they are brave and beautiful, and that their self-worth remains untarnished by others' judgments. She concluded by asserting that while critics can mock them, they cannot diminish the love and self-respect the candidates have for themselves.

While the acceptance of the LGBT's is still not absolute, I can't help but laugh over these people's comments.

It took us (candidates) a lot of courage and confidence to pose for these shots even if we knew beforehand that we are not perfect. Yet unlike you, we braved the possibility of being ridiculed online and we did not hide ourselves using locked profiles and dummy accounts.

We are brave. We are BEAUTIFUL. And we know deep down ourselves that we are worthy. You can only make fun of us, but you can never take away the love that we have for ourselves.
