The singer-songwriter discussed the subject during her appearance on GMA Network’s “Fast Talk With Boy Abunda.” Host Boy Abunda directly asked Yeng whether she was ready to take on motherhood.
“Ready na maging mommy?” Abunda asked, seeking a simple yes-or-no answer.
Yeng responded by explaining that there are still several obligations occupying her attention. She emphasized that her present circumstances have led her to concentrate on caring for the family members who already depend on her.

“Marami pa po akong obligasyon,” Yeng said.
She then opened up about one of the most important instructions her mother gave her before her passing. According to Yeng, her mother specifically entrusted her with looking after her siblings as well as their father.
“Noong bago po mamatay si Mama, ang talagang binilin po sa akin ay mga kapatid ko at saka si Papa,” she recalled.
That request has apparently remained significant in Yeng’s life. She explained that she subsequently spoke with her husband, Victor “Yan” Asuncion, about the responsibility and how she understood the blessings that had come into their lives.
Yeng said she told her husband that they were the ones being blessed by God and that many blessings continued to arrive. For her, those blessings may have a purpose connected to the responsibility her mother left with her.
“So, I talked to my husband, sabi ko, ‘Love, alam mo, kasi tayo ’yung bini-bless ni God eh. And ang daming dumadating na biyaya,’” she said.
Yeng believes there may be a reason why she and Yan have received those blessings, particularly in light of the role she has taken within her family.
“I guess, ’yung way ng mama ko na ibinilin sa akin ang mga kapatid ko, kung bakit tayo binubuhusan ni Lord, meron siyang dahilan,” she explained.
One recent family circumstance reinforced that belief for Yeng. She revealed that her older sister was diagnosed with cancer this year, leading Yeng and her husband to work together in providing support.
“For example Tito Boy, ’yung ate ko po, nagka-cancer this year. So, kami pong mag-asawa ang nagtutulungan doon,” she shared.
The situation appears to have strengthened Yeng’s conviction that supporting her family is an important part of her current purpose. Her response suggests that she does not view her responsibilities as preventing her from having a family of her own, but rather as the priority she has chosen to embrace at this particular point in her life.
Yeng also left the possibility of motherhood open. She said that if having a child is God’s will, she would accept it.
“Kung meron man, kung will ni Lord, kung mangyari po, okay,” she said.
For now, however, she is happy with the role she has within her family.
“Pero right now, I’m just so happy na ako po ang naka-assign sa family ko to help them,” Yeng added.
Her answer comes 11 years after she married Yan in February 2015. At 37, Yeng’s comments reflect a perspective in which motherhood is not being treated as a deadline she must meet, but as something she is willing to entrust to God’s timing while continuing to fulfill her existing responsibilities.
Yeng Constantino has established herself as one of the most prominent singer-songwriters in Philippine music and a notable figure in OPM. Her career began to take off after she won the inaugural season of “Pinoy Dream Academy” in 2006, leading to widespread recognition for her distinctive vocals and emotionally resonant songwriting. Among her best-known songs are “Hawak Kamay,” “Salamat,” “Ikaw,” and “Jeepney Love Story,” with her music often drawing from themes of romance, faith, relationships, and personal experiences. Her work has earned numerous awards and recognitions throughout her career. In her personal life, Yeng married musician and songwriter Victor “Yan” Asuncion in February 2015, and they have continued to build their life together while navigating their respective careers and family responsibilities.

Yeng Constantino shares her husband’s reaction to Ryan Bang’s emotional ‘It’s Showtime’ moment
Yeng previously clarified the meaning behind her viral “seenzone” comments involving Ryan Bang. During her 20th anniversary concert, she had jokingly described their past connection in a way that suggested she had been ignored romantically. She later explained that this was not the full story behind why the two eventually drifted apart many years ago. Yeng said there were deeper reasons involved and that Ryan had recently opened up to her about his perspective, allowing her to understand their past interaction more clearly.
Before establishing herself as a successful recording artist, Yeng also recalled an unexpected attempt to enter the entertainment industry through the SexBomb Girls. During an appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” she revealed that her mother had encouraged her to audition because she wanted Yeng to become an artist. Yeng said she eventually discovered that dancing was not her strongest skill and did not make it into the group. The experience nevertheless became one of the interesting early chapters in the career of an artist who would later find success primarily through singing, songwriting, and performing.
