Ian Veneracion was awarded the as the Best actor at the recently concluded 38th Fantasporto International Film Festival in Portugal..
This was for his outstanding performance in the movie 'Ilawod' from Quantum Films.
The director of the said movie posted in Instagram to congratulate Ian.
He wrote, “TOL PANALO!”
Iza Calzado is also part of the film.
Atty. Joji Alonso, the producer of 'Ilawod' also congratulated Ian. He wrote, “Ian Veneracion is such an underrated actor. Maybe, in that regard, his good looks work to a disadvantage.
“But the 38th Edition of the Oporto International Film Festival in Portugal saw beyond that and has awarded him the Best Actor plum for 2018.
“I am so happy for his victory as lead actor in our film ‘Ilawod,’ which for me his best acting piece, to date,” he said.
Atty. Alonso also praised Director Dan Villegas who had been one of the instrument for Ian's success in the international film festival.
“As for our Director Dan Villegas, Ian’s win hit the proverbial nail on the head once again. It showcases Dan’s gift of being an actor’s director. 9 best actor/actress awards since ‘Mayohan’ in 2010, ” wrote lady film producer.
Meanwhile, "Bhoy Intsik" by Director Joel Lamangan won Special Jury Prize under the Director's Week section of the festival.
"Ang Manananggal Sa Unit 23B" topbilled by Ryza Cenon and Martin del Rosario.of Idea First Company had also been a part of 38th Oporto International Film Festival .
