Netizens slam Rey Valera for body shaming 'Tawag ng Tanghalan' contestant

It's Showtime's 'Tawag ng Tanghalan' judge Rey Valera has been a subject of controversy after his body shaming remark to one of the segment's plus-sized contestant.
During the show's January 10 episode, Rey commented on an excellent performance of contestant Christelle Tiquis which eventually led to making remarks regarding the singer's figure.
The veteran singer said, praising Tiquis on her performance with the song "All My Life".

“Kahit ako napapaganun [sway] dun sa tinatamaan mong mga broken chords na mahirap. Kapag sa jazz, medyo nakakalito 'yan, e. Pero natatamaan mo pa rin.”
He later commented on the contestant's figure after the former 'The Voice of The Philippines' contestant shared how great her relation with her boyfriend for one year has been.
Rey stated:
“Wala akong masabi sa 'yong advice... Walang kinalaman sa pagkanta, iha, kundi sa relasyon mo lang. Nakita ko yung picture mo nung araw, s*xy ka... Ang advice ko sa 'yo, huwag ka magpapataba, iha."
"Alam mo kung bakit? Tanungin mo ako kung bakit. Kasi kapag ganyan ka kataba, at ganyan ka kalaki, at hinahalikan ka ng dyowa mo, nagkakawanggawa lang yun. Okay? Good luck."
Hosts Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis immediately defended the contestant and explained that there is nothing wrong with being plus-sized.

Vice said:
“Oy, hindi. There's nothing wrong with being fat for as long as you're still healthy.”
Anne added:
“Tsaka love chooses no form.”
Vice further stated:
“Mataba, may boyfriend, masaya. Yung iba, ang ganda ng katawan, pero nag-iisa. Pero eto, masaya. Aarte ka pa ba diyan?"
“At saka, dyusko, kapag hinahalikan ka ng boyfriend mo, masaya siya. Kasi mataba ka, ang dami niyang puwede halikan. Nakakapagod lang, pero ang mahalaga masaya kayo sa isa't isa. Mainggit sila sa 'yo.”
