Opening up about the mental struggles behind his journey, JM shared that trying to turn public criticism into gym fuel only backfired at one point in time:
"At first, I took the bullying and bashing as motivation, but it didn't work. I guess anything that comes from revenge and hate will not lead you anywhere."
Once he shifted his mindset toward self-care rather than proving doubters wrong, JM said he found the consistency he needed in his life and routine:
"I just prayed, asked for discipline, and focus to cut sugar, alcohol, and to hit the gym religiously."
He also emphasized that he could not have pushed through his lowest moments alone, thanking his girlfriend, content creator Donnalyn Bartolome:
"But also, I will not go this far without the tough love that @donna gave me. She was there when I got depressed because of online bashing and fat shaming. Thank you."
