The network’s statement clarifies that they have faced "continued PR attacks" but remain committed to meeting obligations to their employees and retirees. It also refutes claims of "preferential treatment" for certain individuals, explaining that many retirees actually deferred their own payments to ensure thousands of retrenched employees received their separation pay in full.

For JM, the issue feels personal. Alongside the statement, he penned a short but moving note about his history with the station. "Simula aking pagkabata hanggang tumanda, nadapa at bumangon andiyan ang ABS-CBN na tumayo bilang pangalawa kong pamilya," he shared.
