“Tonight, he was supposed to do the REMEMBER MEDIACON.”
He then relayed an update from Gamboa’s wife, Katz, who described how sick the actor had become.
“Katz (Joross’ wife) said: ‘Joross is very sick po talaga and he has had fever since yesterday. He hasn’t been able to get out of bed, and can barely speak because of his sore throat.’ 😢”
Gamboa himself also explained to Ferrer why he would miss the event. He said he had been prepared to attend because only he and Ana Abad Santos could represent the supporting cast at the mediacon.
“To me, he said: ‘Sayang I was all set to attend the MediaCon kasi kami lang ni Ana Abad Santos ang puwede sa support cast, kaso mo - bukod po sa flu, maga po ang lips ko, talo ko pa po si Angelina Jolie. 😭 Bawi na lang po ako talaga! Sorry po. 🙏’”
The actor managed to inject some humor into the situation by joking about his swollen lips, comparing them playfully to those of Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie.
Ferrer ended the update by wishing Gamboa a quick recovery and reminding audiences of the movie’s upcoming theatrical release.
“Feel better soonest Joross! 👍REMEMBER : Showing po - NOV. 11. 2026!!!”
Gamboa also personally addressed his illness in a social media post, sharing how the experience had deepened his faith in God.
“Nung nagkasakit ako pinagpray ko kay Lord na ma-glorify siya through my sickness, di ko alam kung pano pero now nakikita ko yun sa mga kaibigan ko pamilya ko at lalong lalo na sa asawa ko kung gaano ako kamahal ng Diyos.”
He said that he has been able to recognize God’s love through the concern shown by the people around him, particularly those who have been praying for him and taking care of him while he is sick.
“Yung concern nila at pagpray sakin at kung paano ako alagaan. Thank you Jesus!”
Gamboa also expressed his hope for recovery while affirming that his faith would remain regardless of the outcome.
“I pray na gumaling nako pero kung di man ako gumaling now you are still my God!”
The actor then extended his prayers to other people who are currently battling illnesses, saying he hoped they would also experience God’s love during difficult periods in their lives.
“Im praying for everyone to get better na may sakit din tulad ko but more than that I pray that they will see God’s love during these dark times. All Glory to God!🤍”
Gamboa’s message offered a deeply personal perspective on his illness. While Ferrer’s post focused on the actor’s inability to attend the mediacon and the severity of his symptoms, Gamboa’s own reflection centered on gratitude, prayer and his relationship with God.
His posts also highlighted the support he has received from his family, friends and wife while recovering. Despite missing an important promotional event, Gamboa appeared determined to focus on his health while continuing to express gratitude for the people surrounding him.
