The Department of Transportation has released a statement regarding the tragic incident at NAIA Terminal 1.
It can be recalled that a black SUV suddenly sped up and crashed into a crowd, resulting in the deaths of 2 individuals and injuries to several others.
DOTr Secretary Vivencio "Vince" Dizon also personally visited the scene and assessed the situation alongside New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) President, Ramon Ang.

According to the DOTr's statement, "...there was no premeditated plan to inflict harm on the NAIA passengers..."
“Initial review of the CCTV footage showed the driver of the SUV dropping off a passenger which indicates that there was no premeditated plan to inflict harm on the NAIA passengers but the investigation is still ongoing,” DOTr's statement read.
“The DOTr, together with the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and law enforcement agencies, is conducting a full and impartial investigation including reviewing all CCTV footage, and subjecting the driver to a drug test,” the agency added.
According to reports, the two casualties included a 5-year-old kid and a 29-year-old male.
The 5-year-old victim was a child of an OFW, reportedly, the OFW's family was just there to send him off when the tragic incident happened.

On their Facebook page, the agency said they put the driver's license on preventive suspension for 90 days while investigations are still ongoing. It can be recalled that the SUV suddenly accelerated, resulting in 2 casualties and a couple of people injured. An SCO has already been issued against the registered owner of the SUV and the driver involved in the tragic incident.
Additionally, the three individuals who were injured from the incident in NAIA Terminal 1 on May 4 have been transferred to St. Luke's Hospital. Based on the report of ABS-CBN, they were initially brought to the San Juan De Dios Hospital. The injuries were the result of an SUV that crashed into NAIA Terminal 1. The incident left two dead, including a 5-year-old girl who went to the terminal to see her father off, who is an OFW.
