IU early life
Lee Ji-eun was born on May 16th, 1993 in Gwangjin District, Seoul in South Korea. She got an interest in pursuing a career in entertainment when she was very young and began attending classes. Immediately after her elementary years, the financial situation of her family deteriorated, prompting them to move to Uijeongbu.

She then moved to Bangbae, Seoul after joining LEON Entertainment. To her surprise, she received ten months training before her debut single in 2008.
