Carlos Yulo's grandmother, Angelita Poquiz, shared her reaction to the Filipino gymnast's Olympic gold medal win.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Angelita expressed how happy she was when it was announced that Yulo won the gold for floor exercise in Olympic gymnastics at this year's Olympic Games happening in Paris, France.

Angelita likewise opened up that she became emotional as her grandson bagged the gold.

“Masaya tapos medyo naiyak, siyempre. Sobrang tuwa sa nangyari,” Yulo’s grandmom said.

“Kasi hindi naman namin akalaing makukuha niya talaga 'yang gold na 'yan eh dahil sa dami ng mga nakalabang niyang mahuhusay,” she added.

Yulo won the Philippines' first gold medal in the ongoing Olympics, making him the second Filipino Olympic gold medalist after weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz's historic win back in Tokyo three years ago.
