Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro addressed Dela Rosa’s remarks, questioning his dismissal of the ICC’s jurisdiction.
She stated, “Hindi ba competent authority ang ICC sa paningin po ni Senator Bato? Sabi ko nga po, iyan ay normal na manggagaling kay Senator Bato dahil isa siya sa maaaring ma-consider na co-perpetrator. May takot on his part? Maybe. I cannot answer for him.”
Castro further noted Dela Rosa’s absence during Duterte’s recent trip to Hong Kong, implying apprehension on his part due to potential legal actions.

She remarked, “Hindi po ba, kung talagang alam niya na walang warrant of arrest issued by a competent authority, matapang po siyang sinamahan ang dating Pangulong Duterte, and as a matter of fact, dapat nga nauna pa siya kay Senator Robin na pumunta sa Netherlands.”
The arrest of former President Duterte has intensified debates on the Philippines’ relationship with international legal bodies. Dela Rosa, who played a significant role in the controversial antidrug operations, has expressed concerns over the ICC’s jurisdiction and potential implications for officials involved in the campaign.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte was the 16th President of the Republic of the Philippines. He left Malacañang on June 30. The newly inaugurated President of the Philippines is Bongbong Marcos who got 31 million votes in the May 2022 elections. The new Vice President of the Philippines is VP Sara Duterte, the daughter of the former president.
Earlier, the former president was apprised of his rights under the Miranda Doctrine. In a video shared by GMA News, CIDG chief, Police Major General Nicolas Torre III, is seen reciting the Miranda Doctrine to the former president. The reading of the Miranda rights is a standard procedure for persons being arrested to ensure that the latter fully understands their rights upon their arrest. It can be recalled that the International Police (InterPol) has confirmed the issuance of the arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court against the former president.
An earlier video showing former President Rodrigo Duterte’s longtime partner, Honeylet Avanceña, seemingly trying to prevent the former leader from being taken into custody has gone viral. The video, which was posted on the social media page of their daughter, Veronica or Kitty Duterte and shared by ABS-CBN news on its own page, has since then gone viral. The said video also captured snippets of conversations between Avanceña and the former leader.
