The Presidential son then cited his reasons for taking the lead in signing the impeachment complaint.

“Alangan naman kung sasabihin ng tao na gusto nyang huhukayin yung lolo mo at itapon yung katawan sa West Philippine Sea, sasabihin niya gusto niyang patayin ang Pangulo at ang First Lady na ang aking magulang at gusto niyang patayin ng Speaker, eh, ba’t naman nagugulat ang tao na pipirma ako dyan.”

“You know, these are statements that can’t be taken lightly, especially from someone with such a high position,” Sandro said in an interview on Friday, February 7.

The eldest son of Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. further expressed, “So nagtataka nga ako kung bakit nagulat yung tao eh… of course I’ll be the first one to sign. That should come as no surprise. And so that’s why I was the first one to sign.”

It can be recalled that on Wednesday, February 5, the House of Representatives impeached the vice president after more than two-thirds of the members of the House backed the impeachment bid against her. In a report by GMA News Online, 215 out of 306 congressmen supported the impeachment complaint, which is now set to be transmitted to the Senate.

This move came nearly two months since three impeachment complaints were lodged against her at the lower chamber, and nearly five months since the House formalized its inquiry into her alleged misuse of public funds as the vice president and Department of Education (DepEd) secretary, Rappler reported.

Vice President Sara Duterte revealed her conversation with former President Rodrigo Duterte following her impeachment by the House of Representatives. VP Sara said during a press conference that she has yet to speak to her father about the impeachment bid, though she sent a message to him through his assistant.

In an interview with News5, Duterte declined to comment on the said impeachment complaint. The country’s second-in-command said she wanted to review the official statement before reacting.
