- Eastern Samar Gov. Ben Evardone has openly endorsed Vice President Leni Robredo for the May 2022 elections
- He revealed that his endorsement of the vice president has the blessing of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte
- According to Evardone, out of respect for the President, he met with him on Feb. 14 to inform him of his inclination towards endorsing VP Leni
- He also said that he told the President that he saw in VP the sincerity of a leader to help the poor

Eastern Samar Gov. Ben Evardone, a known close ally of Pres. Rodrigo Duterte, said that his endorsement of VP Leni Robredo carries the blessing of the President, an Inquirer report stated.
According to Evardone, he had a meeting with Duterte on Feb. 14, and it was during that meeting that he honestly told PRRD that he is leaning towards endorsing VP Leni.
"Out of respect for PRRD as our President, as a father figure to me and as our party leader, I told him that I am about to endorse VP Leni because I see in her the sincerity of a leader to help the poor," Evardone said as per CNN's report.
"I understand. I respect and support your decision," the Eastern Samar governor recalled as the reply of Duterte.

Evardone also said that he could sense that the heart of the President is allegedly for VP Leni after he saw the televised interview of PRRD where the latter said that he wanted his successor to be a compassionate and decisive lawyer.
Out of the 10 presidential candidates, there are only two who are lawyers. One is VP Leni Robredo, and the other is Jose Montemayor.
Aside from Evardone, Rappler reported that Northern Samar Governor Edwin Ongchuan has endorsed Robredo for president.
VP Leni Robredo is the incumbent vice president of the Philippines. She is a human rights lawyer. Her husband was the late DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo. They have three daughters, namely, Aika, Patricia, and Jillian.
VP Leni Robredo, in a social media post, once again expressed her gratitude to the people of places she visited this past week. She said that for her, it didn’t matter that the days seemed long as they were showered with warmth and love by their supporters and volunteers. The Vice President also said that their experiences in the places they visited made the campaign more exciting. VP Leni then reposted some of the photos of the places she visited.
Ogie Diaz took to Facebook and called out a video creator for allegedly making fake news. The video was undermining the numbers that attended the Iloilo grand rally of VP Leni Robredo. The comedian then said that the creator of the video must not invent stories. He then said that even the drone shot of VP is allegedly being photoshopped by the other camp.
