A 67-year-old woman died after the trolley she was riding was hit by a Philippine National Railways train in Pagbilao, Quezon.

According to a report by Unang Balita on Friday, August 14, the senior citizen was a passenger of a trolley traveling along the railway when the accident occurred.
Initial investigation showed that the trolley was on a curved portion of the tracks when it was struck by the PNR train.
The train was reportedly heading toward Lucena City at the time of the incident.

The elderly woman was immediately brought to a hospital following the collision.
However, she was declared dead on arrival.
The operator of the trolley, meanwhile, survived and was reported to be safe.
Authorities are also looking into the conditions surrounding the accident.
Police said the trolley operator and the victim might have failed to hear or see the approaching train because of thick trees growing along the side of the railway.
The vegetation may have limited their view of the tracks, especially since the trolley was traveling through a curved section when the collision happened.
No other injuries were mentioned in the report.
According to the same Unang Balita report, PNR has the right of way along the railway tracks. Because of this, authorities said the railway operator would not be held liable for the incident.
Despite this, PNR management reportedly said it would assist the family of the senior citizen who died.
