According to a report by Unang Balita, the victim was traveling with his grandchild and was supposed to be heading home for a celebration of his birthday when the accident happened.
Their trip, however, ended in tragedy after their vehicle was struck by another car.
Police said the other vehicle was being driven by a 16-year-old. Based on the initial investigation cited in the report, the teenager allegedly lost control of the car after overtaking a motorcycle.

The collision resulted in the death of the senior citizen.
Meanwhile, the teenage driver was also injured in the accident. Four other people who were with the minor were likewise hurt and received medical attention.
Authorities said the 16-year-old driver only had a student permit.
Police also reported that the teenager admitted to having consumed alcohol before the accident. Authorities are continuing to handle the case while the minor remains in the hospital.
Because the driver is below 18 years old, authorities said the teenager is expected to be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development after receiving the necessary medical care.

According to a report on GMA News' Unang Balita, several men were seen arguing along the roadside before the confrontation escalated into a fistfight. Barangay tanods who were on patrol aboard a tricycle happened to pass by and immediately crossed the street to stop the commotion.
Recently, a 75-year-old senior citizen was allegedly deceived by a man who offered to buy her gold ring in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes, Iloilo, on July 31. CCTV footage showed a helmet-wearing man talking to the woman, identified in the report as Lola Susana, at the entrance of her home. According to the report, the man expressed interest in buying her ring and asked to examine it. While pretending to inspect the jewelry, he allegedly switched it with a fake ring before handing one back to her.
