A man died after drowning in an irrigation canal in Luna, La Union, according to a report by Balitanghali on the incident.

Based on the initial investigation cited in the Balitanghali report, the victim was at an irrigation canal in Luna, La Union, when the incident happened. He was reportedly returning a fish trap used for catching fish when the water in the canal suddenly rose.

The man was later retrieved from the irrigation canal and immediately taken to a hospital for medical attention. Despite being brought to the medical facility, he did not survive and later passed away.

Authorities did not immediately provide additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident. The identity and age of the victim were also not mentioned in the report.

Meanwhile, the local government is set to extend financial assistance to the victim’s bereaved family following the incident.
