Several LRT-1 passengers were stranded at EDSA Station on August 9 after a fallen tree blocked part of the railway and disrupted train operations.

The situation was featured in a video report by GMA News. It showed commuters waiting at the station after their trips were delayed due to an obstruction on the tracks.

According to the report, the fallen tree affected the railway section near the EDSA and Libertad stations. The incident prevented trains from operating normally along the entire line.

Limited operations were implemented while personnel handled the obstruction. Passengers whose destinations were outside the available route had to wait or look for another way to continue their journeys.

Station personnel also guided the affected commuters and provided available information regarding the interruption.

Teams were deployed to remove the fallen tree from the railway. They also had to ensure that the affected section was clear and safe before regular train movement could continue.

The Light Rail Manila Corporation later announced that full operations from Dr. Santos Station to Fernando Poe Jr. Station and vice versa resumed at 10:14 p.m. on August 9.

The railway operator did not report any passenger injuries in connection with the incident. Its updates focused on the service interruption, the removal of the obstruction, and the restoration of train operations.

In another report, an unidentified male suspect was arrested for allegedly threatening and intimidating a 45-year-old tenant in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. According to Gabriel Gonzalez’s report on GMA’s Unang Balita, police found the suspect inside a convenience store along Quirino Highway. Video footage showed the authorities approaching the man and ordering him to lie on the floor. He was immediately placed under arrest.

Meanwhile, Marlon Sabandal lost his life after he was shot while trying to stop a street brawl in Barangay Buting, Pasig City, in the early hours of July 12. Recently, a 75-year-old senior citizen was allegedly deceived by a man who offered to buy her gold ring in Barangay Calaboa, Leganes, Iloilo, on July 31. CCTV footage showed a helmet-wearing man talking to the woman, identified in the report as Lola Susana, at the entrance of her home. According to the report, the man expressed interest in buying her ring and asked to examine it. While pretending to inspect the jewelry, he allegedly switched it with a fake ring before handing one back to her.
