Her family believes robbery may have been the motive after cash and a cellphone were reported missing

A 66-year-old senior citizen was hospitalized after she was allegedly stabbed by an intruder who broke into her home in Caloocan City. The incident was reported on GMA News' State of the Nation (SONA).

According to the report, the attack happened past 9 p.m. on Sunday after a man allegedly forced his way into the victim's house by damaging the front door.

The woman's relatives later found her lying in the garage with multiple injuries. They also saw bloodstains throughout the house, along with scattered belongings and damaged plants.

"Puro po dugo. Duguang-duguan. Magulo po yung bahay. Maraming dugo sa lapag."

The family said the victim was still able to call her sibling through the house landline before losing strength.

"Nakatawag siya sa landline doon sa bahay ng kapatid ko. Tapos 'yun ang salita na hindi halos maintindihan. 'Papuntahan ako dito.' Dalawang ulit daw po inulit, 'Papuntahan ako dito.'"

Police immediately brought the woman to the hospital for treatment.

Investigators have yet to determine the exact motive behind the attack. However, the victim's family believes robbery may have been the reason after discovering that her cellphone and cash were missing.

Aside from several stab wounds, the victim also suffered bruises on her face, eyes, head, and mouth.

A relative said they later discovered that ₱25,000 and the victim's cellphone had been taken.

"Matapos pong makapaglinis at tingnan kung anong mga nawawala, eh cellphone po at saka pera doon sa handbag niya. Yung pera is 25k po."

Authorities also recovered a flashlight and a knife from the crime scene, which the family said did not belong to the victim.

Police are now looking into a construction worker from a nearby construction site as a person of interest. According to the victim's family, officers were also able to recover the missing cellphone, which may have helped investigators identify a possible suspect.

"Na-retrieve po ng mga pulis. So maybe doon sila nagkaroon ng lead sa person of interest."

The suspect remains at large as police continue their manhunt.

Meanwhile, the victim is recovering in the hospital while her family hopes the suspect will soon be arrested.

"Siguro sumuko ka na. Napakabait ng taong sinaktan mo."
