A 42-year-old tricycle driver died after he was allegedly stabbed several times by his neighbor inside his home in Rodriguez, Rizal, according to a report aired on GMA News' Unang Balita.

The victim was found sitting outside his house while bleeding and asking for help. Witnesses immediately sought medical assistance as he pleaded for an ambulance. He was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police identified the suspect as the victim's 29-year-old neighbor, who works as a construction worker. Investigators said the suspect allegedly entered the victim's house without permission while the latter was asleep before attacking him with a kitchen knife.

Authorities recovered the weapon believed to have been used in the crime. The suspect did not flee and was immediately taken into custody by responding officers from the Rodriguez Police.

Based on the initial investigation, police said the victim and the suspect had previous misunderstandings. Investigators learned that the victim had reportedly confronted the suspect in the past over an alleged attempt to steal his motorcycle.

Police believe the earlier conflict may have fueled resentment that eventually led to the fatal attack. Barangay officials and some residents also told authorities that the suspect was allegedly using illegal dr*gs, although this has yet to be established in court.

During an interview featured in the GMA News report, the suspect admitted that he committed the crime because he wanted revenge.

"Nablanko na rin po isip ko eh. Ayun na lang po ang gusto kong gawin kaya hindi ko na po napigilan."

When asked if he had attempted to steal the victim's motorcycle before, he answered:

"Nagtangka po akong nakawin yun."

The suspect also apologized and expressed regret over his actions.

"Nagsisisi po ako."

Meanwhile, the victim's daughter became emotional as she spoke about losing her father. She shared that they had been making plans for her upcoming birthday before the tragedy happened.

"Expect ko po na kasama ko po siya habang buhay kaya sobrang sakit."

She also recalled that she was away when the incident happened and was unable to see her father alive at the hospital.

The suspect remains detained at the Rodriguez Police Custodial Facility while a h*micide complaint is being prepared against him. Authorities continue to investigate the case as they gather additional evidence.
