Authorities said the incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed inside the victim’s residence. The footage was reportedly viewed in real time by the victim’s child who is currently living abroad.
According to a report aired by GMA News through GMA Regional TV’s coverage on “24 Oras,” the victim’s child immediately contacted relatives to check on the elderly woman after witnessing the disturbing scene through the security camera system.
Police Captain Gimel Acuesta described part of the footage during the investigation.

“Yung grab sa leeg, parang inipit sa leeg papunta na sa kitchen na way kasi ang kitchen nasa harap ng room ng matanda,” says Acuesta.
Investigators identified the suspect as Jerry Lima, a native of Mambusao, Capiz who was temporarily staying in Leganes, Iloilo. Police revealed that the suspect previously worked for the victim’s construction business.
Based on CCTV footage, the suspect arrived at the victim’s house around 8:05 a.m. on May 24 and was allowed inside by the elderly woman. Authorities believe the victim may have assumed he was there for a transaction involving construction materials.
At around 8:51 a.m., the suspect was allegedly seen leaving the property carrying several items believed to include stolen watches, jewelry, and cash wrapped in clothing.
Police are now pursuing robbery and personal grudge as possible motives behind the killing. Authorities also suspect the crime was carefully planned because it happened on a day when the victim’s household helpers were absent. The suspect remains at large as of writing.
