Police said there were indications that the victim was strangled. Investigators also revealed that the suspect allegedly dragged the victim toward a bedroom after she lost consciousness near the kitchen area.
Aside from the killing, several valuables were reportedly taken from the house. These included cash, jewelry, and watches believed to have been carried by the suspect while fleeing.
Authorities identified the alleged suspect as Jerry Lima, a native of Capiz who was said to be temporarily staying in Leganes, Iloilo.
According to police, Lima previously worked for the victim in her construction business but was eventually dismissed from work. Investigators also disclosed that the suspect had just been released from jail in February following a case related to illegal g*mbling.
Police shared that one possible motive being looked into was robbery. Authorities also suspect that the victim may have mistaken the suspect for someone she had a transaction with, which may have led her to allow him inside the house.
“Isa sa mga motibo gid ya nga mag-rab gid siya, mangrab gid siya kay ti ang suspect nga daan nalulong na sa mga sugal,” a police officer said in the report.
Investigators are currently pursuing the suspect, who remains at large as of writing. The GMA Regional TV team also visited Lima’s residence, but nobody was reportedly present at the time.
The case continues to be under investigation as authorities work to locate the suspect and determine the full circumstances behind the killing.
