American man stabbed in Bacolod City after suspect allegedly demanded money and offered “protection”

An American national sustained injuries after he was allegedly stabbed by a man who approached him asking for money and offering “protection” in Bacolod City.

According to a report aired on GTV News Balitanghali on Tuesday, the incident happened outside a convenience store where the foreigner was seen sitting while his Filipina partner stood nearby. CCTV footage captured the suspect approaching the victim and whispering something to him.
Moments later, the suspect allegedly pulled out a bladed weapon and appeared to point it at the American man’s side. The victim managed to avoid the initial attack and immediately stood up.
However, the suspect reportedly moved closer again, prompting the foreigner to run away from the area. Despite his attempt to escape, the victim was still stabbed during the incident.

The injured foreigner was rushed to a hospital for treatment and eventually survived the attack. Authorities did not immediately disclose the extent of his injuries.
The victim’s partner later recounted what allegedly happened before the stabbing. She said the suspect initially approached the American and asked for P10.
The man also allegedly asked the foreigner if he needed “protection” as long as he would pay for it.
According to the woman, the victim was unable to hand over money immediately because he did not have cash at that time.
Police authorities are continuing their pursuit operations against the suspect. Investigators are also waiting for the victim to formally file a complaint after he reportedly proceeded to his intended destination following the incident.
In other news, authorities are looking into a fatal domestic dispute in Bocaue after a 45-year-old woman was allegedly slain by her younger half-brother. Initial findings from investigators suggested that the confrontation reportedly stemmed from an argument involving fare money before it escalated into violence.
Meanwhile, police in Bokod arrested a 37-year-old man who is accused of killing his 74-year-old mother. The case came to light after a local resident spotted what appeared to be human remains protruding from a shallow burial site. Authorities later examined the home where the suspect and victim allegedly lived together and found possible blood traces along with other forensic evidence that may help in the ongoing investigation.
