A woman believed to be intoxicated caused traffic congestion in Cebu City after she lay in the middle of B. Rodriguez Street on Tuesday morning.

According to a report by Allan Domingo on GMA Regional TV’s “24 Oras,” motorists first noticed the woman at around 6:00 a.m.

Traffic in the area slowed down as responders and authorities tried to assist the woman and clear the road.

City responders immediately arrived at the scene to ensure her safety as well as the safety of passing motorists. She was later brought to the Cebu City Medical Center for proper attention.

A taxi driver also shared details about what happened before the incident. According to the driver, the woman had allegedly come from a bar and already appeared intoxicated when she boarded his taxi.

The driver said the woman was crying during the ride. However, she suddenly got out of the taxi and lay down on the road.

“Bigla na lang siyang bumaba tapos humiga sa kalsada,” the driver said in the report.

The driver also claimed that the woman kept saying she wanted to end her life. He said he tried to stop her and told her not to do it because other people could also be affected.

Authorities have yet to release additional details regarding the woman’s condition after she was taken to the hospital.

In other news, a tragic altercation in Bocaue resulted in the death of a 45-year-old woman after she was reportedly attacked by her younger half-brother. Law enforcement officials indicated that the conflict was triggered by a disagreement regarding a request for fare money. The victim suffered several fatal injuries during the encounter and was pronounced dead prior to her arrival at the local hospital. Following the incident the 33-year-old suspect was taken into custody by police and is anticipated to be charged with murder.
