Barangay responders said police officers initially tried to calm the suspect down and stop him peacefully. However, the man allegedly became more aggressive and resisted authorities.

“Imbis na ibaba, sinugod yung ating kapulisan. Hanggang sa mahawakan niya sa paa yung ating kapulisan. Hanggang sa madapa,” a responder shared.

The responder added that even after falling to the ground, the suspect continued holding the machete and again attempted to chase another motorist who also fell on the road.

“Wala nang nagawang kapulisan kundi paputukan siya,” the responder added.

In a statement released by the Eastern Police District of the NCRPO, authorities said the responding officer was forced to use his service firearm to prevent further danger to the public. The suspect was declared dead on the spot.

Authorities also recovered a 20-inch machete from the man. No motorists were reported injured during the incident. Police are still working to identify the suspect as the Pasig police continue their investigation.
