The infant’s body was discovered by individuals cleaning the river early Tuesday morning. The incident was reported in a segment by Jhomer Apresto on “Unang Balita” on Friday.
According to estero ranger Eleuterio Fernandez, the baby appeared to have been recently born.
“Buo na po kasi may tenga, may kamay, may paa, may ulo. Bago pa lang siya noong kinuha po naming. Hindi naman gano'n lobo, sariwa pa po ‘yung dugo,” he said.

Initial observations suggest that the infant was already lifeless when found. The condition of the body indicated that it had not been in the water for long.
Officials from Barangay 295 said they still have no clear information about who may have left the infant in the estero. They reviewed CCTV footage in the area but found no evidence of anyone directly dumping the body.
Authorities are now considering the possibility that the infant may have been carried by the current from another location. The estero’s water flow is believed to come from nearby areas, including Recto Avenue.
Investigators suspect that the baby could have been abandoned somewhere in Barangay 294 along Recto before being carried downstream to Barangay 295. However, residents in both areas said they have no knowledge of the incident.
Barangay 294 officials also checked their CCTV recordings but reported no sightings of anyone disposing of the infant. Chairman Winsen Yu explained that their area has measures in place to monitor such incidents.
The Manila Police District has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the infant’s death. Authorities are also working to identify the parents or any individuals who may be responsible.
Officials are urging the public to come forward with any information that could help in solving the case. They emphasized that those involved may face legal consequences once identified.
