A man was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after reportedly falling from the third floor of the Legazpi City Public Market earlier this morning, authorities said.

According to PEMS Carlo Paña, the Information Officer of the Legazpi City Police Station, the incident occurred around the early hours of the day.

Paña confirmed in an interview with Brigada News FM Legazpi that the victim is believed to be over 40 years old and a resident of Ligao City.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear. Investigators are still trying to determine whether the fall was accidental, intentional, or if foul play was involved.

The Legazpi City Police have cordoned off the area for further forensic investigation, and they are appealing to the public for any information that could help shed light on what transpired before the fall.

Authorities have yet to release the identity of the victim, pending notification of the victim's next of kin.

The police also noted that the man may have been seen in the area prior to the incident, and are calling for anyone who may have interacted with him to come forward.

A man at the roadside then signaled for him to stop, and when he did, he was shot by the perpetrator. The gunman immediately fled the scene, but authorities already have a person of interest.
