A basketball bet ended in tragedy after a 32-year-old man was stabbed to death in Barangay Talang, San Carlos City, Pangasinan.

According to a report by Jerick Pasillao on GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon on Monday, the victim had played basketball with the suspect’s son.

The altercation allegedly began when the suspect’s son failed to pay his bet to the victim.

“After ng hindi pagkakasundo, hindi nagbayad ‘yung anak ng suspek, nagkagulo sila at doon na sumingit ‘yung ama ng bata para patayin ‘yung biktima natin,” said Police Captain McKinley Mendoza, Duty Officer of the San Carlos City Police Station.

The victim sustained stab wounds to the stomach and later died at the hospital.

Meanwhile, the suspect fled and remains at large as authorities continue their search.

The victim’s family is now demanding justice.

“Hustisya lang naman ang gusto namin. Pagbayaran lang nila ‘yung ginawa nila sa pamangkin ko,” said Aladin Bulatao.
“Hindi kami papayag na hindi sila mapanagot sa ginawa nila sa apo ko. Makulong sila nang habambuhay,” added the victim’s grandmother, Teng Bulatao, who expressed her heartbreak over the death of her grandson.

In another viral local report, a man was arrested for killing his neighbor in Barangay Wines, Baguio District, Davao City. The stabbing incident was committed on March 02, 2025; the victim was identified as Alvin Dulos, 51 years old. As reported in TV 5's 'Frontline Pilipinas,' the suspect, Jason Dalayon, was resting on a hammock when he saw the victim and called him. That's when the suspect stabbed the victim, multiple times; as reported, the victim sustained a total of 13 stab wounds.
