A mother has been sentenced to life imprisonment by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 86 for selling explicit photos and videos of her daughter online.

The court’s verdict, issued on February 4, 2025, also imposed a P2 million fine for violating Republic Act No. 11930, known as the Anti-Online S#xual Abuse or Exploitation of Children (OSAEC) and Anti-Child S#xual Abuse or Exploitation Materials (CSAEM) Act.

The case began after the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation flagged suspected Filipino participants in online child #xploitation. The Philippine National Police conducted an investigation and initiated communication with the mother through a messaging app, where she offered explicit content involving her daughter for money.

Authorities apprehended the mother and her husband in an entrapment operation. The husband was reportedly connected to the online payment account intended for the transaction.

"The accused, BBB, failed to present any evidence in her defense," said Acting Presiding Judge Roslyn Rabara-Tria in the ruling.

The court acquitted the father due to insufficient evidence proving his involvement.

"There was no proof that accused CCC was aware of his wife’s actions involving their daughter AAA’s photos and videos," the judge noted.

Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla commended the prosecution for securing the mother’s conviction.

"Parents have a moral and legal duty to protect their children from harm and exploitation. Those who betray this responsibility will face the full force of the law," he said in a statement.
