An elderly man, believed to be over 80 years old, was found dead inside his home in Zone VII, Libon, Albay.

According to ABS-CBN News, the man had been left alone and was trapped inside his house due to the rising floodwaters.

Rescuers, volunteers, and the Chairman of Zone VII were patrolling the flooded area to rescue stranded residents. Unfortunately, by the time they reached the elderly man's house, he had already passed away.

They even needed to destroy the roof of the house just to recover the man's body.

Severe Tropical Storm Trami, known as Kristine in the Philippines, affected the country in October 2024. Trami developed into a tropical storm on October 19, moving westward and intensifying before making landfall in Isabela on October 23. PAGASA issued strong wind warnings for several regions, with a red alert in Bicol, Cordillera, and Ilocos due to the risk of further damage. The storm caused record rainfall in some areas, including 528.5 mm in Daet, Camarines Norte, the highest since the 1920s. Trami resulted in 14 deaths, seven missing persons, and over $222,000 in damages.

In a previous report by KAMI, a video captured residents in Albay crying for help due to the unstoppable rise of floodwaters caused by Typhoon Kristine. Albay is one of the provinces in the Bicol region severely affected by Kristine's wrath. The region continues to appeal for any kind of assistance as many areas remain submerged in floodwaters above head level.

Additionally, the Bicol Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) issued a call for help as they were reportedly overwhelmed by rescue operations. Due to Typhoon Kristine, the rising floodwaters in the Bicol Region have become uncontrollable. Numerous updates show stranded individuals, including some stuck on buses, affected by the floods. Even after hours of Kristine's impact, the region continues to experience severe flooding.
