Two minor siblings died while three other members of their family were rushed to the hospital after eating puffer fish or "butete" in Basilan.
In a GMA Regional TV One Mindanao last Wednesday, the incident happened on Monday, July 29 at the victims' house in Barangay Balas, Lamitan City.
According to the investigation, the family ate fried puffer fish for dinner and experienced dizziness and vomiting the following day.
The four-year-old and seven-year-old brothers died at home while their mother and two other siblings, nine years old and two years old, are recuperating in the hospital.

According to the barangay chairman, the family is used to eating puffer fish, but it is possible that the fish was not properly cleaned and cooked this time, which led to the unfortunate incident.
