- According to Carlos, who happens to be the cousin of Denise Laurel, he immediately isolated himself and informed close contacts, but clarified that Gwyneth was not even invited to the party
- He said that she was the "girlfriend of a friend of my younger cousins who passed by at the end of dinner"

Carlos Laurel, a model and aspiring politician in Batangas, was among those who were with Gwyneth Anne Chua, more popularly known as Poblacion Girl, at a certain bar in Makati.

He is the cousin of actress Denise Laurel, and he took to Facebook and explained his side of the story.
According to Carlos, he did not know that Gwyneth skipped quarantine, and that when he learned about the result on Dec. 27, the same day that her result came out, he immediately had antigen and isolated himself.
He also mentioned that he is compliant with protocols and does not condone a breach thereof.

He is hoping that his statement sheds light on the matter, especially the accusations that were hurled at him.

Thank you for the concern. In response to the questions:
Ms. Gwyneth Chua tested positive on Dec. 27, 2021 and I learned about the result the same day when my cousin messaged our group four (4) days after our dinner. I did NOT know she had skipped quarantine nor did I have anything to do with the incident. My immediate response was to antigen myself and my family then isolate to monitor for possible symptoms. I then proceeded to inform those I came in close contact with about the current situation.
Gwyneth is the girlfriend of a friend of my younger cousins who passed by at the end of dinner, Gwyneth was NOT invited to dinner by me or my relatives. I do not condone breaching of quarantine protocols, I am fully compliant and in contact with the CIDG and their current investigation on the incident. As to not interfere with the said investigation, I was advised by them not to further comment on the situation until its conclusion. I hope this has shed some transparency on the false accusations of my involvement in the breaching of quarantine protocols. Thank you again. Stay safe.
Gwyneth Anne Chua, also known as Poblacion Girl, was the balikbayan who skipped quarantine just to party with friends but was later caught.
The parents of Gwyneth Anne Chua, aka Poblacion Girl, will be included in the criminal charges that the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) will be filing. CIDG will be filing the appropriate case against Chua, along with eight other people who skipped quarantine. It was reported that the parents of Chua allegedly took part by picking her up from the hotel and bringing her back there. Aside from the parents of Chua, the hotel staff would likewise be charged.
Aiko Melendez was unable to hide her disgust at the woman referred to as ‘Poblacion Girl’ due to her being seen partying in a bar at Barangay Poblacion in Makati City. The woman is supposed to be under quarantine at a hotel after coming home from the United States. Apparently, she was able to slip out from the quarantine facility and attend a party last December 27. She tested positive for the virus on December 29, along with some of those she was in contact with at the party.
