Gabbi Garcia has highlighted the importance of her role as journey host of The Voice Kids, sharing how her conversations with young contestants have given her a fresh perspective on the entertainment industry.

During her appearance on Fast Talk with Boy Abunda on Friday, October 9, the Kapuso actress explained how she helps the children overcome their nervousness and share their dreams before performing on stage.

“I work closely with what they want with life, kung ano 'yung mga dreams nila, as in talagang ako 'yung nakatutok sa kanila backstage pa lang hanggang sa pagsalang nila sa stage. I'm there, I'm present. So I feel like my role is so vital,” Gabbi said.

As journey host, Garcia gets to know the contestants on a deeper level through spontaneous conversations. She explained that she only receives bullet points about their backgrounds and is free to ask follow-up questions based on their stories.

“It's so much fun to be able to freestyle na free-flowing lang, kausap mo 'yung bata kasi they really surprise you,” she shared.

The experience has also changed how Garcia views her work after 12 years in the entertainment industry. While she initially saw the competition as another work commitment, the children's excitement about performing before a large audience reminded her of how differently they experience the industry.

“Parang nabibigyan ako ulit ng different view of the industry and of our lives because of the kids,” she said.

Garcia also emphasized the importance of making young contestants feel safe enough to express themselves, particularly when they are nervous before going on stage.

Through these interactions, the actress continues to learn from the children while helping them feel comfortable sharing their stories and pursuing their dreams.

She makes time for church even after Saturday-night parties or events and looks for a place to worship when traveling overseas. The actress said the weekly practice allows her to reflect, maintain her perspective, and appreciate the things she is grateful for.
