Facing the loss of an unborn child is an excruciating journey, and veteran actress Gladys Reyes is looking back on one of the most heartbreaking chapters of her early married life to offer hope and comfort to others.

During a candid guest appearance on Kring Kim's podcast Think Talk Tea, Gladys recalled that before welcoming her firstborn son, Christophe, she actually suffered a miscarriage which was her honeymoon baby.
"Hindi, actually I had a miscarriage pa. Supposedly meron kaming honeymoon baby, pero ang nangyari, I had a miscarriage. Six weeks lang siya, blighted ovum. Ang ibig daw sabihin ng blighted ovum, kumbaga sa itlog, hindi siya na-develop. I had bleedings, ganyan," she shared.
Gladys admitted that she and her husband Christopher Roxas were looking forward to starting their family.

"Of course, oo. Excited kami, talagang looking forward kami. May mga ultrasound and all, ganyan, tapos on the sixth week, nag-bleed ako. Akala ko normal lang kasi diba may mga nagsa-spot spot, pero sa akin, hindi spotting, bleeding na para kang nagkakaroon."
A conversation with her friend eventually had Gladys going to the OB very quickly. Upon consulting an OB-GYN in Laguna, the couple received the heartbreaking confirmation that the pregnancy was not viable.
"Dun na na-confirm na I had a miscarriage. Never na magkakaroon ng heartbeat. So never siya nagka-heartbeat at all, pero may pangalan na nga kami dapat, kasi mina-manifest namin ay boy, ganyan. Ang OA ko nung nagka-miscarriage ako," Gladys recalled.
In the weeks that followed, the veteran actress found herself overwhelmed by sorrow and self-blame.
"Ito po, for the sake of those na baka may pinagdadaanan din na ganyan, na nasa gitna sila ngayon na nag-grieve pa rin sa miscarriage. Okay lang po yan, daanan niyo yan, hindi niyo pwedeng lampasan eh, yung pag-grieve. Kasi kung ako nun, alam mo ang OA ko, makakita lang ako ng commercial ng mga baby o kaya billboard na may baby, umiiyak talaga ako."
"I was blaming myself. I was still working that time, sa TV5, sa Novaliches, so syempre inisip ko, kasi diba sinasabi ng matatanda, 'Natagtag ka siguro' ganyan. Somehow I was blaming myself, but syempre malaking factor na in-explain sa inyo nung OB kung ano yung inyong kalagayan, bakit nangyari yun."
Offering gentle reassurance to parents currently navigating the heavy silence of miscarriage, Gladys reminded them to let go of unnecessary guilt.
"So hindi mo yan kasalanan na hindi yan natuloy, hindi yan dahil natagtag ka. It wasn't meant to be na mabuo ganun," she ended.
